Although reports indicate that the base price of coffee as a commodity held up comparatively well over the past year (ie it ROSE instead of fell over the year), the current trend is solidly downward on coffee prices. That means bad news for all you commodities brokers and good news for the rest of us!
Maxwell House has already cut the price of its coffee. But let’s face it, our readers aren’t drinking Maxwell House. Prices at our favorite green coffee bean suppliers remain pretty static at somewhere in the $4.40 to $6.50 a pound for cofees that aren’t in the super premium range.
I reckon I get about 16 16-ounce cups out of a pound. Most coffee places charge me right at $2 for that amount nowadays (when you include tax). So that’s $32 per pound comparatively. See why we here at GetIn2Coffee.com roast our own? Plus it tastes better (well, mostly, we do make mistakes…)
